Emily Jump became hooked on travel at a young age and has a deep respect for and fascination with the cultures and diversity of Latin America.  As a student, she studied and worked abroad in Ecuador, where she focused on human rights violations and indigenous communities, as well as in Costa Rica, where she worked on sustainable small-scale natural building and low-impact living.  Emily graduated from the University of Washington’s Program of the Environment with an emphasis in international studies.  She has worked with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Region 10 office on environmental justice issues in the state of Washington.  Emily has also been active as a volunteer and assistant manager of the Rancho Mastatal sustainable living center in the small village of Mastatal, Costa Rica.  She has a passion for working with communities and promoting sustainable practices.  Emily has guided student groups in Nicaragua and Costa Rica and leads Crooked Trails programs in South America and Nepal.  What she loves most about travel is the sense of infinite possibility, the rush of discovering lifelong friends, and the rewards of experiencing cultures both similar to and different from her own.
