Causes We Support
Many years ago on the very first Crooked Trails program to Thailand, participants asked if there was something they could do to address the needs of the homestay community. We asked the village headman and he replied, “Yes, we very much need a community center where we can all meet. Right now everyone piles into my home and you can see it is not large.” Therein began the service projects that are now an important part of Crooked Trails.
Our first project was building the community center in Pang Sa, Thailand. We have since worked on a variety of projects, including building schools, homes, water systems and other income-generating village-run developments. Most importantly, we have established sustainable community-based tourism programs all over the world.
Our approach has always been to ask what is needed and make it happen. This is in large part why our projects have been so varied, encompassing everything from schools to hygiene to website design. It is also why we have raised tens of thousands of dollars for victims of natural disasters such as the earthquakes in Nepal and Peru, and the tsunami in Thailand.
Currently we are raising funds for the projects below. Crooked Trails is a federally-recognized 501(c)3 and all donations are tax-deductible.
